The mission of the Manhattanville School of Tailoring and Fashion Arts, Inc. is to promote self-sufficiency by providing community members the opportunity to learn or enhance a skill.
Our Goal – The goal of the school is to provide the necessary skills and knowledge to produce a professionally constructed garment.
Facility and Equipment – The school is housed in a brownstone located in the historic Hamilton Heights section of Harlem, NY also known as Manhattanville. You’ll find table top as well as industrial sewing machines. The school provides a tranquil and intimate atmosphere where students are immersed in the world of fashion.
The philosophy of the school is based on the belief that education in the apparel industry should be a comprehensive and systematic approach which stretches from “the fiber to the hanger”, the origin of the fabric and progressing to the finished garment. The experience provided has to be consistent with the needs, aspirations and capabilities of the student; thus ensuring that each individual reaches his or her potential with the utmost confidence and dignity.
