The Designer’s Parlor
Designers may rent our fully equipped facility by the hour. You provide the necessary fabrics and Notions. Our facility is fully equipped for those advanced participants who are in need of a space to be creative. No instruction available.
Private Sewing Instruction
This 2-3 hour class is for the advanced designer who seeks direction from a master tailor for specific techniques. One week advance registration is required.
Fashion Industry Seminars
The fashion industry offers many career paths. Seminars and workshops on various topics will be scheduled throughout the year. Seminar details will be posted on our website 2 months in advance.
Coat making is the major project in this course. It includes handling special fabrics and making a design adaptation to commercial patterns. Individualized instruction allows students to select their projects.
This course exposes students to jacket construction with emphasis on hand finishing, pocket making and sleeve setting. Exposure to commercial pattern selection and adjustment. Included in this course is a study of fashion fabric designs, how it relates to pattern layout and cutting. Students will have the opportunity to complete a cardigan jacket.
The objective of this coursed is to introduce students to the “Tailored Method”. Emphasis is placed on developing basic skills and knowledge in power machine operation, hand finishing and pressing. Students will also acquire a basic knowledge of textile, the use of commercial patterns; techniques in garment cutting and construction.
Students will build on skills learned in Professional Tailoring I and acquire new skills and techniques associated with dressmaking, women's pant and skirts.
This 2-hour class is designed for the participant who wants to learn how to lengthen or shorten a dress or pants, sew on buttons or mend a rip. Instruction focuses on hand sewing techniques only. Saturdays only
This 2 hour, 3 day course is perfect for retirees. Participants will make quilts using personal memorabilia. Prior sewing knowledge is not required. Classes are held during the day. 6 participants are required to hold class
Youth and Sewing
This 4 week course includes 2-hour classes where children ages 8 - 12 years learn the fundamentals of sewing and beyond. If you have a child interested in fashion this is where he/she should be on Saturday afternoons. 6 participants are required to hold class.
BFFs are Sew Together
You and 4 of your friends will enjoy a 3 hour fun-filled experience in our sewing parlor. You select which project you’ll make, and we’ll do the rest. Refreshments included. Reservations are required
Children from 5 years of age are introduced to the joys of sewing while celebrating milestones. Each child receives a “Make & Take” project. Reservations must be made at least 2 months in advance. Parents must remain with children.
Mommy/Daddy & Me Sew 2gether
A family that sews together stays together! This 3-hour class is designed for a child, between the ages of 8 and 14 years, with one adult to share the experience of learning how to sew. Participants will have fun while creating their project and learning fun facts about the fashion industry. Multiple levels of instruction are offered. No sewing experience required for level 1.
